CN Canadian Women’s Tour – 2008 Season Recap

CN Canadian Women’s Tour @ The Richmond Country Club, Richmond, British Columbia– May 23, 2008

Richmond, B.C. (Golf Canada) – Sue Kim of Langley, B.C. outlasted the competition over two rounds, including a three hole playoff, to win the season opening event on the 2008 CN Canadian Women’s Tour at Richmond Country Club, in Richmond, B.C.

The 17-year old amateur started today’s final round second, but carded a birdie, a double bogey and 16 pars to sit at 1-over par for the tournament, in a three-way tie for first with Susan Choi of Natick, Mass. and Sarah Tiller of Phoenix.

With the victory, Kim earns her first trip to the Canada’s only LPGA Tour stop, the 2008 CN Canadian Women’s Open, held August 11-17, 2008 at the Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club.

“I’ve always wanted to play in the CN Canadian Women’s Open,” added Kim. “I really wanted to win this week and get the exemption.”

CN Canadian Women’s Tour @ The Sunningdale Golf & Country Club, London, Ontario– June 3, 2008

London, Ont. (Golf Canada) - National Women’s Amateur Team member Sue Kim of Langley, B.C. shot an impressive tournament-total 141 at Sunningdale Golf and Country Club in London, Ont., to finish at 3-under par and claim her second consecutive victory on the CN Canadian Women’s Tour.

Kim started today’s final round in second tied with Jillian Wyne of Calgary and Jennifer Greggain of Chilliwack, B.C. at 1-under par, while fellow National Team member Nicole Vandermade of Brantford, Ont. sat alone a top the leaderboard at 3-under.

Kim’s sizzling second round 70 was largely due to an impressive wedge game at the challenging Sunningdale layout.

“The greens were slightly softer today because of the rain and that really helped me with my ball placement,” said Kim, the only amateur to claim victory on the CN Canadian Women’s Tour. “This week was a little easier than Richmond because I felt more relaxed. I had already earned my exemption into the CN Canadian Women’s Open and that was my main goal for the season.”

CN Canadian Women’s Tour @ Glendale Golf and Country Club, Winnipeg, Manitoba– June 24, 2008

Winnipeg (Golf Canada) – Stephanie Sherlock of Barrie, Ont. outlasted the competition, birdying the fourth and final sudden-death playoff hole to win the third stop on the 2008 CN Canadian Women’s Tour held at Glendale Golf and Country Club in Winnipeg.

Sherlock was the opening-round leader, but fired a 3-over par 75 to sit tied with Kira Meixner of Richmond, B.C. and Seema Sadekar of Las Vegas, Nevada at 1-under par for the tournament.

Sherlock and Sadekar put on an exceptional display of golf, paring the second and third playoff holes, but Sherlock birdied the fourth playoff hole after reaching the 475 yard par-5 in two, putting an end to Sadekar’s hopes of claiming her first win as a professional.

“I felt good coming into today’s round,” said Sherlock. “All I had to do was play solid and I knew I could win.”
